 It is pleasantly aromatic herb and has a distictively minty-sweet flavor with slightly bitter undertones. However, it is milder in flavour than oregano. The greeks valued marjoram as a stimulant and all-around cure for such ills as asthma, indigestion, rheumatism and toothache.

Uses :

• Dried marjoram is a popular addition to salad dressings, meat dishes, and preserved meats such as German sausage.

• Marjoram is subtler than its relative oregano and well suited to delicate vegetables, tomato-based dishes, such as tomato sauce and pizza, and poultry seasoning.

• Sprinkle marjoram over your favourite pizza.

• Adding to olive oil before brushing on meat, as a rub, or sprinkled on top of individual pieces.

• It is traditionally partnered with meat, particularly lamb, veal, beef, pork and chicken but goes just as well with vegetables, pulses or seafood.

• To make marjoram tea, simply add the dried herb to boiling water and allow it to steep for about three minutes until hot and fragrant.
